Brown Dog Pergolas & Outdoors is dedicated to the fine details of every project from design to finish.
Beginning with the overall design of our pergolas, we focus on what our customers desire to accomplish while also considering the existing architecture and surrounding areas of a project site.
For the pergola itself, we work to excel in craftsmanship, which includes routing, sanding, and notching the wood components of a structure. We also conceal and recess fasteners using wood plugs, leaving a clean all-wood finish. Larger-sized Cedar timbers are used for structural longevity and an emboldened appearance. Fabrication of most all wood components occurs off-site in a controlled environment to ensure precision and reduce time and waste at the project site.
We utilize installation and building methods that are precise and safe. Connections to existing dwellings are joined to structural load-bearing points, and beam connections are crafted to transfer weight and tension to the foundation. We set and notch elevation points (post/beam heights) before erecting, allowing structures to be seamlessly built and held in place with wood resting on wood, not just relying on the strength of fasteners. We also offer a variety of wood sealers to put the finishing touches on the project.
For patio applications, we have found that pergolas have a unique way to solve a problem, where other patio extensions can have a tendency to appear like an afterthought. Creating a space next to an existing structure that gives you both the aesthetics and the opportunity to utilize an area come rain or shine can be difficult. Because of the necessary roof pitch required to shed water in some of these applications, the existing structure or architecture may not appropriately allow for the common roof extension with similar construction materials. Pergolas create an opportunity to accomplish this since they can be constructed level for open roof applications or with a slight roof pitch using watertight roof coverings. Also, the natural wood look of a pergola can seamlessly tie in and compliment an existing area, appearing like it was part of the original design, whether it was or not. With our background in construction management and experience specializing in pergolas, we have confidence in accomplishing a solution that fits and adds to your outdoor area!
